The Reset: An Anthropology of Botanical Intelligence
How ancient botanicals like Qasil and Frankincense offer a pathway back to focus and stillness.
ReadGiving unsold Parisian flowers a second life through the power of scent. Designed to bring you back to yourself in a world in flux.
Every other sense takes a detour through the brain’s processing centre before you register it. Scent is different. It connects directly to the parts of the brain that govern emotion, memory and the feeling of safety.
This is why a particular smell can stop you mid-street. Why the right one can shift your whole body out of overdrive in a single breath. It does not ask your rational mind for permission. It simply arrives.
The Floral Archive is built around this. Not as theory. As practice.
“Of all the senses, smell is the most direct. Where sight and sound travel through layers of processing, scent moves straight to the brain’s emotional core — the place where memory, instinct and feeling live.”

Every week across Paris, beautiful blooms close the day unsold. We work with local florists to give those flowers a new life. Dried, blended, and returned to the world with a different kind of purpose. A fleeting bloom made to last.
Each batch is infused with our organic aromatherapy blend of lavender, clary sage and cypress. Three plants chosen for what they do to the body, not just what they do to a room. Our blend Hooyo is named after the Somali word for mother, an ode to those who came before us and the power of nature to restore.
Each archive is numbered by batch, limited to what we are given. A limited sensory experience built to travel, to ground you, to make wherever you are feel a little more like home.
Aromatherapy works because scent works. Each plant in our blend was chosen for its documented effect on the nervous system and for the depth of tradition behind it. Ancient knowledge and modern science, pointing in the same direction.
Shown to lower cortisol and signal safety to the brain’s emotional centre. The breath that tells you: all is well.
Used for centuries in women’s wellness traditions across cultures. Clarifying and grounding. The note that makes the blend feel familiar rather than clinical.
The earth note. Mediterranean. The scent of something that has been standing still long enough to trust it.
I am Somali-Canadian designer, based in Paris. For years I worked in corporate tech, moving fast, staying connected, producing. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, I felt the distance from myself grow.
The answer was not a new app or a ten-step routine. It was older than that. I returned to the traditions I had grown up watching, the ones my mother carried and her mother before her. A line of multi-generational healers who knew that nature restores, that nature grounds, and that less has always been more.
Arum.care is an ode to who came before us and an invitation to come back to yourself, through the simplest things the earth offers.
“I come from a line of women who understood that the body finds its way back when you give it the right signal.”
